Camp Shawnigan

We look forward to welcoming you all to Camp Shawnigan on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia. We try to alternate between the west and east coasts every two years.

CDYLC 2022 was in Nova Scotia, now we are lucky to have it in British Columbia!

Camp Shawnigan is near Victoria, it is only a 30 min drive from Victoria,

and a hour's ride from the airport.

2024's Theme and Logo

Every camp has a story, and this year's theme is meant to inspire potential leaders.

"Guiding Lights": we all need to have a light to guide us towards our future. The flashlight has a hand as its light, its handshape representing our deafhood. Emphasizing the importance of preserving and promoting all our sign languages in Canada: American Sign Language, Langues de Quebecois and Indigenious sign languages. The colours are bold & high contrast, very visible,  and include nature's neutral hues.

The retro feel of the shape and font bring us back to a nostalgic feel of camping in the olden days. This is to honour Canada's long history of camping, cherishing nature and  encouraging people to be outdoors for their physical and mental wellbeing.
